Mrs. Ella Baszler 1905-2000 ELLA BASZLER. Hazen: Ella (Baerwald) Baszler, 94, Hazen, died June 2, 2000, in the Underwood nursing home. Services will be held at 2 p.m. MDT Tuesday, at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hazen, with Rev. David Suezle officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Visitation hours will be held today from 5 to 8 p.m. MDT at Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen. Ella was born Aug. 26, 1905, in Wolhynia, Russia, a daughter of Samuel and Amanda (Krueger) Baerwald. As a young girl, she emigrated to Canada, then to Egeland, and finally to the Manhaven area. On Oct. 18, 1925, she married John Baszler at Manhaven. They farmed and ranched together on the family farm and then moved to Hazen. John passed away on June 17, 1954. Ella was employed at the Hazen Memorial Hospital for 13 years. She was an active member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church, Hazen. In 1990, Ella moved to the Pioneer Park Retirement Home in Hazen and became a resident of the Prairie View Nursing Home at Underwood in 1993. She is survived by two sons, Vernon and Alice Baszler, Bismarck, and James and Julie Baszler, DeSmet, S.D.; two daughters, Elaine Richter, Hazen, and Betty and Bob Daly, Mesa, Ariz.; 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Ella was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; twin sons, Myron and Wayne; two sons-in-law, Willmar Richter and Wayne Ebel; her sisters and brothers-in-law, Betty and Fred Weigum, Lillian and Fred Galloway, Evelyn and Ernest Sailer; and her brothers, Ewald, Emil and Albert; and one grandson. Memorials may be directed by the Prairie View Nursing Home in Underwood. (Seibel Funeral Home, Hazen)
