SAILER, GLEN D.  1935-2021

Glen D. Sailer, 86, of Stanton, ND, peacefully passed away with his family by his side on Tuesday, April 27, 2021. A celebration of Glen's life will be held on Saturday, May 22, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Stanton, ND.

Glen was born on March 21, 1935 in Krem, ND to the late Tobias and Elsie (Isaak) Sailer. He married Merlin A. Anderson on November 28, 1955. This marriage was blessed with 5 children, blossoming into a huge family of 4 in-laws, 10 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.

Glen graduated from Stanton High School in 1955. Following high school, he spent many years operating crane for Morrison-Knudsen before being hired full time at United Power Association Stanton Station where he would spend the next 33 years before retiring in 1996. Glen was very passionate about his work, gardening, yardwork & wood working. He spent countless hours teaching his children and grandchildren how to hammer a nail, run a drill, raise a garden and how to care for a beautiful yard. He would stand close to be sure the garden rows were planted straight and the lawn mower continued in a very straight line no matter which angle the grass was to be mowed. He taught us all well as we have all carried on his passion. Glen had a love of sports having played high school basketball and amateur baseball. He was faithful about making those weekly NFL picks, filling out the high school and NCAA basketball tournament brackets. As his health and eyesight began to fail, the gardening and woodworking came to an end. His biggest heartbreak was the death of his wife of 65 years and the closure of UPA Stanton Station. (ALL THE WAY WITH UPA is the chant he taught all his grandchildren)!!

Glen is survived by his children, Gwendy (Kevin) Dissell of Washburn, ND, Monty (Loree) Sailer of Garrison, ND, Warren Sailer of Garrison, ND, Julie (Brian) Hager of Rapid City, SD, and Morie (Kari) Sailer of Chandler, TX; 10 grandchildren, Eric (Teresa) Dissell, Ashley (Cody) Wagner, Emily (Brandon) Lewis, Amanda Sailer, Dillon (Sarah) Sailer, Breanna Sailer, Jancie (Hunter) Knight, Shealyn Hager, Kyle (Amanda) Sailer, Kirk Sailer; 12 great grandchildren, Easton & Jaxon Wagner, Kaylee Sailer, Landon Cook, Baby Davian Lewis (Arriving Fall 2021), Tate & Maddox Sailer, Joslyn Hager, Wade & Blakely Sailer and step-grandchildren, Caylee & Cierra Knight. He is also survived by his brothers, Stanley, Willis (Carol), Jacob (Janet), Perry (Dona), Bruce (Marilyn), Lee (Coleen), Thomas (Cindy); sisters Judy (Joe), LaVonne (Dale), Yvonne (Monte), one brother in-law Andy (Janice) Anderson, one sister in-law Sandra Wood, and numerous nieces, nephews & cousins. He was preceded in death by his wife Merlin, parents Tobias & Elsie Sailer, and siblings Joan (Joe) McCloud, Robert Sailer, James (Marilyn) Sailer, & Tommy Sailer.
