Ardron, Joseph (abt 47 years; died Dec. 26, 1899) Mandan Pioneer, December 29, 1899 JOSEPH ARDRON DEAD. Joseph Ardron died at his home west of Mandan Tuesday, Dec. 26th, of a brain abscess, after an illness of several weeks. The deceased was about forty-seven years of age. He was born in Illinois and subsequently, with his parents moved to New York state. He came to Dakota in the eighties and became a citizen of Morton county. In 1883 he was united in marriage to Miss Averill, who with seven children survive him. Mr. Ardron was first afflicted with ear trouble. He had been around threshing machine during the Fall so much that the chaff and dust which accumulated in his ear affected the drum. The irritation grew until it developed into an aggravating form. In youth he had received a heavy fall which fractured his skull. When his ear affliction began to give him trouble it extended until it found a vital spot in this old fracture and an abscess formed, which ultimately caused his death. Mr. Ardon was an industrious farmer. Like many of the earlier settlers of Morton county, he built high hopes on the future developments of this section and believed its soil was destined to continue as valuable as it was in the hey days of 1882 and 1883. He had builded his future on those prospects and when they failed of realization it caught him in the crash and left him with enamored real estate. He was an honest and upright citizen and few men in this county enjoyed to a greater extent the confidence and esteem of the people. He held the office of county commissioner and this Fall was the Democratic candidate for the same position. He was regarded as the strongest man in his party, in the district in which he lived, and this estimate was corroborated by the large vote he secured. A good citizen, a kind neighbor, loving husband and an affectionate father has answered the summons of death and passed beyond the pale of earthly hopes and fears. BENEFIT FOR MRS. JOS. ARDRON At their meeting last night the members of the Mandan Band decided to give a concert for the benefit of Mrs. Jos. The best available local talent will be asked to assist, and the ladies of the city will be asked to make the benefit a success by disposing of tickets in advance. Fall program and futher particulars will be published next week. The band boys ask the hearty co-operation of the citizens of Mandan in their efforts to relieve a fellow-creature in her hour of need.
