    St. Anthony Pioneer Dies of Fall Injuries

    Mrs. Frank Haider, 73 of St. Anthony, Morton county resident 50 years died in a Mandan hospital Thursday of internal injuries received in a fall down the stairs of her home. Funeral services will be held at St. Anthony Saturday.

    Edwin D. Haider Killed in Action

    Mr. and Mrs. George B. Haider of Shields, and formerly of St. Anthony, have received word from the war department of the death of their son, T.Sgt Edwin D. Haider. Sgt. Haider was seriously wounded on Luzon, March 31st.

    The Haiders have three other sons in the service, Pfc. George, who is in Italy, S 1/c Lawrence, who is in the South Pacific on a ship, and Seaman 2/c Andrew, who is at present home on furlough.

      DEATH CLAIMS EARLY SETTLER OF GLEN ULLIN. 

      Mrs. Rosa Herman, aged 80, today died at 6:45 a.m. on the fifth anniversary of the burial of her husband, Peter Herman. Mrs. Herman passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. A. L. Davis, who resides two miles north of Glen Ullin. She was stricken with pneumonia about three weeks ago and complications incident to her advanced age developed, which brought about her demise this morning.

      Deceased was born July 23, 1849, in Austria, and on March 8th, 1872, was united in marriage in Prussia to Peter Herman. The family came to the United States in 1882 settling first at Detroit, Michigan., and in 1886 coming to what is now the Glen Ullin community in Morton county, where they took up homesteads and have since resided.

      Mrs. Herman is survived by four children, 18 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Her children are Mrs. A. L. Davis, Glen Ullin; Charles Herman, Beulah; A. R. Herman, Mandan; and Mrs. Rose Le Blaire, Glendale. A sister, Mrs. Mary Bergen, resides in Glen Ullin.

      She was a devout member of the Catholic church at Glen Ullin and for many years was active in the affairs of the Sacred Heart Society. The funeral services will be held at 9:30 o'clock Saturday morning from the Sacred Heart church at Glen Ullin with Rev. Father Adalbert Kraft in charge. Pallbearers had not been named this morning when Undertaker H. O. Chilson, Beulah, phoned the obituary to the Pioneer.

      **NOTE: Her husband, Peter Herman, died five years earlier (however no obituary notice has been located). Peter Herman was born 04 Mar 1848; died 29 Apr 1925.
