Mr. Kristinn Olafson of Gardar who died at his home in Gardar on October 15th, was born in Iceland October 15th, 1843. He was a member of the first large party of Icelandic immigrants that came to this country, although a few of his countrymen had preceded in small numbers as far back as 1886. 

He was married in Iceland in 1886 to Kathrin Olobedottir. Seven children were born to them, five of whom survive. Rev. K. K. Olafson of Mountain is a son of the deceased.
